With the awakening of Spring and the advent of Summer just around the corner, the Grand Junction Symphony Guild is swinging into action! Having just completed a very successful Spring Flower Basket Sale, thanks to the beautiful flowers from Bookcliff Gardens and the much-appreciated support of so many Symphony fans, the guild sold over 300 baskets!
The Guild members also prepared for their Bake Sale that was held at the GJSO sponsored “Gardens of Note: Garden Tour,” Saturday and Sunday, June 5 & 6. The Guild’s Bake Sale was located at the home and garden at 287 West Morrison Court on the Redlands. On the first day of the Garden Tour, the Guild nearly sold out of all their baked goods! Many members rushed home to bake more goods for Sunday which was also a very successful day for the Guild bake sale. All proceeds, of course, will support the GJSO.
In addition, the Guild members have just elected their new officers for the 2021-22 program year. They will be installed at the June 4, General Meeting. Another highlight of the summer, for all officers and all members, will be a day-long planning retreat in August, to be conducted by a professional retreat facilitator. The event will be held at the Redlands Community Center. The retreat has been made possible by the generous donation of a former member, Anita Johnson, who knew the value of helping to focus the Guild’s energy and mission on its alignment with the current direction and goals of the Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra.
For their fall fundraiser, the Guild is in the process of planning a replacement for Octoberfest. Brats in the Vineyard will be held in September at Peachfork Orchard and Vineyards in Palisades. Stay tuned for details. You won’t want to miss this fun event!
An important goal of the GJSG this year is to build its membership. Please feel free to refer anyone you may think has an interest in supporting our amazing Symphony Orchestra to the Symphony office. The office staff knows just who and how to contact Guild members for follow up! Thanks!
Lastly, remember you are still able to buy your copies of that wonderful, audio book for young music-lovers, WELCOME TO THE SYMPHONY. This delightful book provides a wonderful and educational gifting opportunity for the children (Ages 4+) in your life. A beautifully illustrated book with battery operated, musical accompaniment to introduce children to the symphony using Beethoven’s Symphony No 5. It is available at the Symphony office for just $25. Proceeds from these sales also support our great GJSO.
