Great Symphonic Music is back, and so is the Guild – supporting that wonderful music!
The Guild is growing, adding new members and bringing in new ideas to have fun and bring opportunities to join in the fun to the Grand Valley. The Guild’s Turn Up the Music Retreat brought together Guild Members and senior leaders of the Symphony to confirm our mission and to think through how to continue to grow our membership, our good times, and our financial support. Over the next months we will focus those ideas and build our action plans. Watch this space for updates!
Brats in the Park – After a year’s hiatus, the Orchestra presented Symphony Under the Stars on August 21st and the Guild was there serving brats and sauerkraut and all the fixings. The music was wonderful, the weather was perfect and everyone had a wonderful time. More than 30 Guild members volunteered to make the event successful – along with volunteers from the United Methodist Church and Grand Junction Rotary. We hope to build on these community partnerships as the Guild reaches out to the greater Grand Valley community – we know there are a lot of organizations that want to support this music – a great chance to do good while having fun and meeting new people! And Thank You to the Symphony AND for such beautiful music! Thanks to everyone who enjoyed our Brats in the Park the Guild will be able to give several thousand dollars for the Symphony! Thank You Grand Junction!
A new event, Brats in the Vineyard, was held on September 26th at Peachfork Winery in Palisade. A different kind of event – as fitting one held in a beautiful vineyard – where guests were
served a dinner, dessert, and wine by Guild volunteers while Alpine Echo provided musical entertainment. This SOLD OUT event, once again, supports the Symphony and concerts throughout the Valley.
Future events the women of the Guild are planning include, in partnership with Bookcliff Gardens, a Holiday Greens sale: poinsettias, Norfolk pines, Christmas Cactus and so much more. The sale will be held November 19th, 20th & 21st . On December 9th we will have our Candlelight Dinner at Two Rivers Winery and Chateau and April 9th will be our Springfest Luncheon and Fashion Show, also at the Winery. We have other plans in the works, so stay tuned.
Remember the Guild is about having FUN while doing good 😊! Every month an informal group of Members gathers at the Ocotillo Restaurant for Lunch Bunch. Just a chance for friends to meet-up, have a great lunch and enjoy the view. It may be a good opportunity for someone interested in the Guild to meet some members in a relaxed setting. If you’re interested, comment below and we’ll get back to you with more information.
Speaking of that, we are always interested in growing our membership. In addition to our fun-filled events we hold about 6-8 meetings a year, from September through June, usually right before a Symphony Classical Concert. One of the highlights are updates from Symphony leaders about their plans and other music-related Valley news and an informal presentation from Charles Latshaw, Symphony Music Director, about the background for the upcoming concert. It is so interesting to learn the “back story” of composers and their music, and to get some hints about what to listen to in each musical selection to be played. Let us know if you’d like to talk to someone about Membership.
Your 2021-22 Board says THANK YOU! to all for your continued support. L to R:
