Make a Difference by Volunteering

We love our volunteers! You are paramount to our success. There are a variety of ways to volunteer depending upon your interests. You can help by ushering at concerts, joining the Symphony Guild, working in the office, volunteering on various committees or helping with planning and decorating for events like the Annual Symphony Gala.

On-going Volunteer Needs

Ushers

We depend on our volunteer ushers for a successful concert. If you enjoy helping people and have a desire to attend a concert for free, ushering may be a fantastic option for you! Ushers arrive approximately one hour prior to the concert and help concert-goers find their seats. Ushers also hand out programs, provide information to patrons and notify symphony staff of any concerns prior to or during the concert. Ushers are always welcome to stay and enjoy the concert for free!

Office Assistance

The Grand Junction Symphony is constantly working on concerts and events. The preparation that happens behind the scenes for each upcoming concert is constant. Volunteers are welcome to assist the symphony office in preparing mailings, answering phones, filing and assisting in special projects.

Promotional Poster Distribution

If you are “out and about” in the community, then you may enjoy lending a hand in the distribution of promotional posters. In a tight-knit community like Grand Junction, oftentimes promotional posters are one of the best ways to inform people of upcoming concerts and events. The Symphony would like to invite you to assist in distributing a few posters or you can take an afternoon and help us cover the Grand Valley.

Committee Service

There are several committees that make the symphony run smoothly. There are currently opportunities to serve on the Gala, Marketing, Development or Education Committees.

For more information on any of these volunteer opportunities, please contact the Grand Junction Symphony office by phone at 970-243-6787 or send us an email at info@gjso.org.
