The Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra (GJSO) Guild started Cup of Cheer over 15 years ago. It began as a fundraiser for the Symphony Orchestra. In previous years, tickets would be purchased, and those who purchased tickets would be able to tour Grand Junction, walking through an assortment of ornately decorated homes, in-person. At the end of the home tour, guests were invited to have a refreshment at the Two Rivers Winery.

This year, things would be different. But rather than cancelling the entire fundraiser, GJSO decided to bring the tours to viewers from the comfort of their home. The virtual Cup of Cheer is a gift from the Grand Junction Symphony to you. We invite you to safely take an intimate look at people’s passions for the holidays through decorations and memories shared together. All the videos feature, not only the holiday decorations, but a brief interview with the homeowners as well.

It is our hope that all these homeowners will consider a live visitation next year, once COVID19 is behind us. We also hope people will enjoy the videos and donate to the organization to help continue the many great concerts and events that we produce each year.

“During these challenging times, we hope viewers smile and feel the joy and wonder of the holiday season as they see the beautifully decorated homes virtually,” said Kelly Anderson, Executive Director of the Grand Junction Symphony. “Each home features pride and dedication to the holiday season and many wonderful personal touches unique to each family.”

Of course, GJSO would not have been able to put on Cup of Cheer without Karen Hildebrant, a GJSO Board Member and owner of Unique Expressions on Main Street. She has been arranging homes for Cup of Cheer for many years. She loves this holiday tradition and Cup of Cheer would not be made possible without her dedication to the GJSO and its many fundraising events.
